The Hunter Valley Wine Country is renowned for its fine vineyards - boasting over eighty wineries and cellar doors with tasting facilities. The winemaking tradition dates back more than 150 years, with Australia's most famous wineries sprinkled through the hills near Cessnock.

Visit some of the 80 wineries, sample the finest cuisine in the state outside Sydney, stay in beautiful boutique hotels, luxury villas, resorts and guesthouses. A popular region for food and wine lovers, there is no shortage of wonderful restaurants and cafes, all have great food and atmosphere. The lush, rolling hills of the Upper Hunter present many opportunities for discovering rural heritage, including rural townships and scenery, with nearby Barrington Tops, the closest World Heritage Listed rainforest to Sydney and one of the highest points in Australia which can be explored on foot, horseback or by 4WD.
